A section of the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar was reduced to flames on Wednesday after a truck hauling 60 tons of liquefied natural gas landed in an accident with another car.
While it remains unclear what exactly sparked the fiery fender bender, its aftermath was harrowing, fireballs lighting the sky and igniting several adjacent buildings as roughly 600 firefighters did their damndest to get the blaze under control.

"It was very strong. And then I've never seen such kind of, like, strong [explosion],” local attorney Erdenebold Sukhbaatar told Reuters of the explosion, noting that at first he believed a plane crash was responsible for the massive inferno. “It was like 60, you know, tons, which means 60,000 liters [of gas] you know. It was like huge liquid gas."
Six people — three of whom were firefighters — died in the incident, and 11 were injured.

Though the fire was ultimately extinguished several hours later, we can only hope these passersby get paid big bucks when their phone camera footage gets repurposed in Michael Bay’s next action movie.
